About me

Hi! I’m Karen L Souza, a passionate vocal coach and piano instructor based in Los Angeles, with over 21 years of experience helping students grow as musicians, performers, and confident individuals.

My journey started in São Paulo, Brazil, where I earned degrees in Piano, Lyrical Singing, Musical Theory, and Choral Conducting from the Conservatório Dramático Musical Carlos de Campos. Later, I deepened my love for storytelling through music and performance by studying Musical Theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the joy of teaching voice and piano to students of all ages and backgrounds—from beginners to advanced performers. Whether it's musical theatre, classical voice, pop vocals, or piano in classical or contemporary styles, I tailor my lessons to each student’s unique goals. I believe that great teaching blends solid technique with inspiration, encouragement, and creativity.

I founded and ran Conservatório Orpheus in Brazil for 16 years, where I directed numerous musical theatre productions like The Little Mermaid, Mamma Mia, Hercules and Aladdin. I’ve coached students for recitals, auditions, competitions, and national festivals, often writing scripts, choreographing, arranging music, and conducting choirs. Beyond teaching, I’ve also performed as a pianist, vocalist, actress, and dancer in theatre, indie films, commercials, and special events.

Now, I teach both in person and online, welcoming students from all over the world. Whether you're preparing for a big audition, looking to develop your musical skills, or simply want to explore your creative side, I’m here to guide and cheer you on every step of the way.
